Recently, our university was rated as an "Enterprise of Outstanding Contributions" at the "2016 UOOC Conference & MOOC Seminar" held at Shenzhen University. In addition, our liberal arts college's online course "Classical Literature and Cities," delivered by Prof.Yang Xuhui, won the honoredtitle of "UOOCModelMOOC".

University Open Online Courses (UOOC) was established on May 12, 2014. So far, a total of 103 local colleges and universities nationwide have joined UOOC, offering a total of 106 online classes, andmore than 200,000 students. As one of the founding membersof UOOC, our university was elected as a vice-director unit of UOOC at the conference.Adhering to the principles of "collaborative creation, commonresponsibility, and collective resources," UOOC integrates the high-quality teaching resources of local universities nationwide to develop large-scale open online courses, collaborate on the creation of high-quality coursesvia shared mechanisms, and mutual accreditation systems, in order to provide increasing ranges of educational options and services for both university and part- time students. This helps promote teaching reform and innovation at local colleges and universities, and enhances their abilities to cultivate talent and provide social services.

The course "Classical Literature and Cities" is given by Prof.Yang Xuhuiofour School of Liberal Arts. As one of the first batch of UOOC's online courses, this course has been offered on the UOOC teaching platform for five consecutive semesters and has attracted more than 5,000 students from nearly 100 colleges and universitiesnationwide. Praised for itsexcellent teaching quality, the course is very popular with students and has received wide acclaim. This course was formally offered on the MOOC platform xuetangx.com on April 16, 2015, and so far more than 20,000 students from all over the world have takenthis course. Not long ago, xuetangx.com conferred the "2016 MOOC Teaching Pioneer Award" on Prof.Yang.

In the future, we will further strengthen the construction and promotion of open online courses and actively carry out cooperation with domestic and foreign colleges and universities and MOOC platforms so as to help our quality courses and teachers spread beyond our campus limits, catch the public eye, and win recognition for Soochow University.
