报告内容简介:With the fast advance of connectome imaging techniques, we have the opportunity of mapping the human brain pathways in vivo at unprecedented resolution. In this talk we will discuss some of our recent works on developing novel computational techniques for the reconstruction of anatomical pathways using multi-shell diffusion MRI. We will first present several new algorithms we developed for the reconstruction of fiber orientation distributions (FODs) from multi-shell imaging data based on compartmental models. After that, we will focus on our recent efforts in modeling the topographic regularity of brain connections, i.e., connectopy, including a topography-preserving tractography algorithm, a tract filtering algorithm based on connectopy, and a connectopy-regularized independent component analysis (ICA) algorithm for fMRI data. Building upon these novel developments, we have successfully applied connectome imaging techniques to reconstruct several challenging brain pathways including the retinofugal visual pathway, and the brainstem pathways. We have released publicly an atlas of 23 brainstem fiber bundles based on connectome imaging data on NITRC.
