Professor Liu Zhuang Honored Jiangsu Province "Advanced Returned-from-abroad Individual" of 2017

Jiangsu Provincial Government has just announced that 10 people in the province have been honored as 2017 Advanced Returned-from-abroad Individuals, with Professor Liu Zhuang of Soochow University included.

 

As a Term Professor, Liu Zhuang is now the Executive Dean of both the College of Nano Science & Technology and the Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials. Professor Liu received a BS from College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of Peking University in 2004 and a PhD in Chemistry from Stanford University in 2008. After working as a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford for one year, Liu returned to China and joined Soochow University.

  

Professor Liu has been dedicated to the research of nano-medicine and cancer nanotechnologies. He has been developing the high sensitive active tumor imaging technology based on new nano probe,exploring new medical treatments for cancer based on nanotechnology, and proposed new strategies for photothermal mediated tumor immunotherapy for inhibiting tumor metastasis. Since 2005, Professor Liu has published over 250 research papers and cited for over 30000 times, with his SCI H-index being 86. He received the sponsorship from China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists in 2015 and also in that year, he was enlisted in the "National Youth Talent Support Program", also known as "Ten Thousand Talent Program" by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. In 2016, Liu was entitled as "Young and middle-aged leading scientists" of Ministry of Science and Technology. Internationally speaking, he became a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry of the United Kingdom in 2015 and was entitled as a "Highly Cited Researcher" by Clarivate Analytics of the US in 2015, 2016 and 2017 consecutively (in the fields of chemistry and material science). Professor Liu serves as the editor and editorial member on a number of international periodicals such as Biomaterials. He received the First Prize of Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Award in 2016 and the biomaterials Science Lectureship in 2017.
