Soochow Professors Awarded by Chinese Chemical Society

The Chinese Chemical Society (CCS) has just publicized the winners of the 2017 Youth Chemistry Prize. Professor Huang Xiaoqing from the College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and Professor Li Yanguang from College of Nano Science & Technology, Soochow University, are enlisted in the 10 winners of this year. 


The Youth Chemistry Prize of CSS was first awarded in 1983 as one of the earliest national prizes set by CCS for developing intellectual resources and talents in chemistry studies and encouraging young scholars to devote themselves in this research area. Each year, ten winners would be awarded while all the candidates should be aged below 35, should have contributed innovatively to the research, application, and teaching of chemistry studies, and should have demonstrated considerable potentials in this area. In 2017, through highly consolidated reviews by Prize Awarding Committee of CSS and Panel of Youth Chemistry Prize Reviewing Committee of CSS, 10 of the 64 candidates received the honor, the winners being from higher education institutions like Peking University, Nanjing University, Xiamen University, and Chinese Academy of Sciences.

 

Professor Huang Xiaoqing from Soochow University has been conducting frontier studies in the synthesis of multi-component noble metal nanostructures and heterogeneous electro-catalysis. Based on the original findings, he has published more than 80 research papers in journals like Science, Sci. Adv and Nat. Commun., with a citation record of over 6000. Professor Huang is also a member enrolled in the 1000-Talent Plan for Young Scholars of 2014 by Organization Department of Central Committee of CPC. The fundings he has received include "333 Project" of Jiangsu Province, "Six Talent Summit" Program, "Innovative and Entrepreneurial Talent" Scheme, and Jiangsu Foundation for Excellent Young Scholars.

  

Profess Li Yanguang has been focusing on the inorganic nano-function materials with high efficiency in energy transferring as well as the application of the materials in the transfer of light-electricity-chemical powers, which is a key part for electrocatalysis, battery energy storage, and photoelectric cracking of water. Professor Li has published 43 papers as the corresponding author various high-level journals, including 27 papers on such journals as Nature CommunicationsChemPNASChemical Society ReviewsAdvanced MaterialsAngewandte Chemie, and other 10 journals with an IF higher than 10. His SCI papers' citation number has exceeded 14000. Professor Li is also enrolled in the 1000-Talent Plan for Young Scholars by Organization Department of Central Committee of CPC. Some of his other titles include "High-Level Returnee Talents" of Ministry of Personnel, "Term Professor of Jiangsu Province", "Top 1% Highly Cited Chinese Scholar" of Royal Society of Chemistry of the United Kingdom (2016, 2017), and "Global Highly Cited Scholars (Chemistry)". He has received fundings from Jiangsu Foundation for Excellent Young Scholars and National Foundation for Excellent Young Scholars.
