On the afternoon of December 7th, the signing ceremony of Soochow University Experimental School (Gaoyou) project was held in Gaoyou Economic Development Zone of Jiangsu Province. GouFengcheng, Municipal Party Committee Secretary of Gaoyou, ZhangQiuhong, Director of the Standing Committee of Gaoyou Municipal People’s Congress, Xu Yongbao, Chairman of Gaoyou People’s Political Consultative Committee, Zhao Guanghua, Member of the Standing Committee of the Gaoyou Municipal Committee, Executive Vice Mayor, LuWei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee of the Development Zone, Jiang Yong, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Soochow University, Xiong Sidong,President of Soochow University, Yang Yixin, Vice President of Soochow University, and chargers of relevant departments of Gaoyou City and Soochow University attended the signing ceremony. Pan Jianqi, Member of the Standing Committee of Gaoyou Municipal Committee and Minister of Publicity  Department, presided over the signing ceremony.

Secretary GouFengcheng delivered a speech at the signing ceremony. He said that Gaoyou was a famous historical and cultural city in the country, which was characterized by various cultural relics and historical sites, multi-colored culture and large numbers of scholars. At present, Gaoyou was embarking on reforms, expansion of opening to the outside world and leapfrog development again with ideological liberation. It was necessary to further strengthen cooperation with universities. Soochow University had a long history of running the university, especially in running experimental school with successful experience and fruitful results. He pointed out that Gaoyou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government cherished the cooperation with Soochow University, and would do their best to provide the first-class environment and high-quality services for cooperation of two parties with the utmost sincerity, and provide excellent, efficient and convenientservices forsmooth implementation of cooperative projects, making educational essence of Soochow University and wisdom of running the university create quality and perform best in Gaoyou, making the project of cooperation in running schools become a new model of university-site cooperation.

President Xiong Sidong gave a brief introduction to running history and reform of Soochow University. He pointed out that Soochow University always adhered to the development idea of “unto a full grown man”. While focusing on the international academic frontier, Soochow University took the initiativeactivelyto face the main battlefield of national and regional economic and social development, accelerated the deep integration of school innovative resources with regional industrial resources, and helped regional transformation, upgrading and innovative development. The signing of Soochow University Experimental School (Gaoyou) was a new starting point andnew opportunity for Soochow University to serve Gaoyou city. In the future, the university would be devoted to strengthening all-round cooperation with Gaoyou city, and would make great contributions tolocal economic development of Gaoyou city in terms of personnel training, scientific research and transformation of scientific and technological achievements. It was hoped that two sides would strengthen cooperation and strive to make Soochow University Experimental School (Gaoyou) a model school and benchmark school with great influence, and contributed to development of Gaoyou basic education.

In his speech, Secretary Jiang Yong said that signing of Soochow University Experimental School (Gaoyou) project was an important measure for the university to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, and to respond actively to the call of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, do well in people's livelihood with great enthusiasm, and serve the local economy and social development. It was also an important step for Soochow University to give full play to advantages in personnel training and teacher education, promote educational reform and development, and enhance the running vitality. He said that Soochow University must attach great importance to the cooperation, concentrate on high-quality resources, make Soochow UniversityExperimental School (Gaoyou) an innovation zone for basic education reform and development, a demonstration zone for high-quality talent training, and a radiation zone for excellent basic education resources, build the brand of Soochow University Experimental School, and develop education that people are satisfied with.

Subsequently, Yang Yixin, Vice President of Soochow University, signed the cooperation agreement with Lu Wei,Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee of Gaoyou Economic Development Zone of Jiangsu Province.
