Speaker Biography:
Dr. Youyi Fong is an Associate Professor at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch). Fred Hutch, home of three Nobel laureates, is an independent, nonprofit research institution dedicated to the development and advancement of biomedical research to eliminate cancer and infectious diseases. Dr. Fong is also an Affiliate Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Washington, a recognized leader in the statistical sciences. His main methodological research areas include threshold regression, machine learning, and methods for biological assay. His main collaborative research is in the design and analysis of randomized clinical trials and immune correlates studies for developing vaccines against infectious diseases. Dr. Fong has published almost more than 50 papers in prestigious peer-reviewed journals, including Science, New England Journal of Medicine and Biometrics about Threshold regression models、Kernel methods、Biological assay methods、Frequentist methods、Bayesian methods and Infectious diseases. He participatory or collaborative exploited 8 R packages, 1 C++ software and received NIH funding for developing innovative statistical methods for HIV-1 prevention research.
