Introduction

The research of second language vocabulary acquisition has been the focus of linguistics, psychology, cognitive science and neuroscience for the past thirty years. This lecture will introduce studies in this field from the perspectives of cognitive science, psychology, neuroscience, corpus, teaching and learning, lingua franca, social culture, dynamic systems, etc., and recommend topics for future research.

 

Speaker Profile

 Zhang Ping is a professor and Ph. D supervisor of South China Normal University, who is also a visiting scholar of the University of Cambridge. She is a member of the university academic committee and a director of the academic subcommittee. Zhang is a leader in “Blue Project” of Jiangsu Province, a standing director of the Association for Second Language Processing and a director of the Chinese Association for Psycholinguistics. She completed two research projects of the National Social Science Fund of China and two provincial social science fund projects. Zhang serves as the reviewer of the National Social Science Fund of China and the Ministry of Education of Humanities and Social Science Project. She also works as a reviewer for Foreign Language Teaching and Research, Modern Foreign Languages, Foreign Language Learning Theory and Practice and Journal of PLA University of Foreign Languages. She was awarded over ten achievements in teaching and scientific research. Zhang has published 50 papers on SSCI and CSSCI journals. Her research interests include Second Language (Teaching) Acquisition, Vocabulary Acquisition, and Processing and Psycholinguistics.
